I graduated from Assumption High School in 1995. In 1999 I graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. After completing student teaching at Belle Rose Primary, I followed my students to Belle Rose Middle where I spent the next 4 years teaching math and social studies while coaching volleyball and basketball. I then moved to Napoleonville Middle to have the opportunity to teach more math classes and spent 3 years there. While at NMS I began facilitating an algebra online class through the Louisiana Virtual School. The professional development I completed through LVS gave me the confidence to pursue secondary math certification. I attended LSU to prepare for the certification test and became certified to teach math at the high school level. In 2006 the Freshman Academy was opened, and I was asked to join the staff as an algebra teacher where I have taught for 9 years. In addition, I also taught online courses through LVS for 3 years.
Although I loved teaching math the classroom, it has always been a dream of mine to be a school counselor. In August of 2012 I became a graduate student at Lamar University and finally earned my Master's Degree in May of 2014. In January of 2015 I began splitting my days working as both an algebra teacher and a school counselor. As I begin my eighteenth year in the Assumption Parish School system, I look forward to my second full year in the counseling department. I am most excited about the new structure of our department, which will me to build solid relationships with students across grade levels as I get to follow them throughout their high school career!
